Peacocking Orange and Blue

In a sea of jerseys, it is hard to keep a sophistication about your outfit when cheering for your favorite team. We spent our afternoon at the local watering hole rooting for the Denver Broncos. Even though we showed our team spirit, we didn’t sacrifice our style. It’s easy to score a touchdown with fashion when the colors are already picked out for you. Sorry, we couldn’t resist at least one pun!

One of my favorite things to do while growing up was to go to football games with my Dad. We had season tickets to the Arizona Cardinals formerly known as the Phoenix Cardinals. I would cheer in the stands, and trash talk our opponent’s fans at the ripe age of about 6. Now, I don’t have to search too far in my closet to bring out the orange and blue for the Denver Broncos. The pattern play with the polka dots and floral scarf was a must, and the orange pants fit perfectly into my plan. My color palette may have changed, but my love for the game has not.

I am a born and bred Broncos fan. On this brisk fall game day, I couldn’t resist throwing together a little blue and orange inspired ensemble. I’m not one for jerseys, so I opted for a more stylish approach. We always say, you don’t have to sacrifice style for team spirit! I paired a coral-orange cardi with some beautiful cobalt blue velvet skinny cords. I couldn’t resist a little pattern play, so I contrasted a neutral polka dot tee and accessorized with a floral scarf and a pop of leopard on the shoe. Though your team may not always be a winner, your style can be!

Fallin’ For You

After reading the weather forecast, we had to use a lot of motivation to get ourselves out of bed. We want to ease into fall, not be shoved. So, we were hoping the falling temps were just a fluke. It turns out fall may come anyway, but we had a wonderful day nonetheless. We started with the best sweet potato hash in town at Jelly. We couldn’t help but order the homemade donuts too. It was so dang delicious and fun; We want to become regulars. After brunch, we braved the cold to play in the changing fall leaves. And, the cold turned out to be pretty exhilarating. Even so, we still couldn’t wait to get our lipstick smudges on a few more cozy beverages.

I tend to soak up every last ray of summer until I’m forced to put on actual pants (er, instead of a dress mind you) and fall into autumn. But, once I’m there, I remember how rich and bold and beautiful everything is. These patterned pants are also responsible for getting me in the cool weather mood. For our frolic in the fallen leaves, I chose a classic fall outfit. A perfect fit chambray, patterned skinnies, cognac booties, fur stole, and a leather jacket. All the essentials for the cold weather dip! I’m not afraid of the patterned pant this season and neither should you! Be bold in pattern and color and I guarantee you’ll want to brave the brisk and head out in style. To finish the ensemble, I added a touch of whimsy with some special preview Whim & Fancy designed necklaces!

I’ve never been an all four seasons kind of gal, but fall makes me want to change that a little. I love the fall leaves, drinking apple cider, carving pumpkins, eating pumpkin everything and watching Hocus Pocus a thousand times. Since my wardrobe is predominantly spring and summer, I have had the pleasure of purchasing a few new fall pieces like this white and gold sweater. I love the colors and pattern to liven things up a bit instead of the same ol’ drab black. Leggings are a fall must-have. I just will never get sick of them, and they will probably pop up all over this blog this time of year. And, these studded boots with sweetly patterned socks couldn’t wait to make their debut. This foot outfit made me feel so rocker chic yet ultra feminine with the pattern play socks. Cheers!

Sunset Stroll in the Gardens

There’s just something about a sunset stroll in a garden full of flowers that makes for a peaceful evening. With our continuously busy schedules, we decided to dress in floral prints and stop to smell the flowers. And, it was a much appreciated moment for both of us.

I’ve been so busy at work that the thought of sniffing out flowers while wearing flowers could not have sounded more appealing. This garden is only a few extra big strides down the street from my house, so convenience got the best of me. The sunset was beautiful. My date was fabulous. And, the floral touches felt right. The pink flower shoes have been a conversation piece since I bought them, and the cherry blossom dress is as sweet as it sounds. I finished off the outfit with pink flower earrings to make the evening even more magical.

Even though a couple of new skinny jeans recently creeped into my wardrobe, I’m still not ready to say goodbye to the flirtatious summer dresses. So, when Randi suggested a sunset walk in the garden, I was thrilled to flaunt this floral frock as a last ode to summer. I found this sheer beauty at Regal Vintage, one of my favorite vintage shops in Denver. I love diving in for hours among the decades of history with the faint aroma of incense in the background. This particular find came without a slip, so I paired it with a black bodycon slip for its public appearance. Since the dress was too large for my frame, I doubled up on identical wrap belts to define a waist. I topped it off with a fringed choker and blue suede shoes. My fall felt hat seemed to sneak in as it’s too excited to get more attention in my daily wear. I didn’t object!

Thriftin’ the Afternoon Away

We stumbled upon this geometric art wall while thrift shopping at Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe one lovely afternoon. We found some great stuff, including a hair drier chair from the 1950’s, but ultimately came home empty handed. We may have different shopping habits and style inspirations, but we are the same in our like for an artsy fartsy day.

Afternoon thrifting calls for the perfect light and airy piece. This delicate frock is one of my favorites for dancing, twirling and skipping about. I love the pleated A-line cut and the low, detailed back. I toughened it up a bit while channeling my inner Kelly Kapowski adding a bit of 90’s flare with a light denim vest. I’m loving the denim vest right now. It’s a perfect addition to dresses and girly-gal outfits with its bleached denim and worn-in details. I paired a chain fringe necklace with a natural geode to add an earthy, bohemian element. And, since it’s so rare to see me without a little sparkle, I finished the outfit off with some goldy-sequined flats.

I showed Lenay the way on these leather, cognac shorts (normally the other way around). And, they are a perfect piece for fall. I paired them with the coral, lace blazer and cream shirt lined with lace to share an essence of summer as well. I love a good blazer because it adds structure, and elongates my body to make me feel like a skinny minnie. Add a lengthy, beaded necklace, and I look nearly six-feet tall. All of these pieces are super comfy, so I was able to happily thrift away the day.

Haute Dog

Our Labor Day weekend brought on a road trip complete with a few Colorado favorites. One of the best pit spots was Coney Island. We know what you are thinking, but our geography is not amiss. This attraction is a giant hot dog serving giant hot dogs in Bailey, Colorado. And, it doesn’t disappoint. It was built in 1966 and has since moved around quite a bit. True to the time of the establishment, we embraced bohemian chic outfits both for the comfort on the road and adventures as hippies. There is just something about eating a hot dog inside of a hot dog that is exciting. When we saw what ‘rocky’ style entailed (onions and peppers) from another patron, we got order envy and promptly put in a change request. Lenay enjoyed an elk dog with jalapeño and cheddar. And, Randi customized a regular dog with relish and mustard.

It has the perfect ruching and empire waist to accentuate my curves just right. And, the jeweled tone  complements my fair skin. The headband served a dual purpose of fashion and utility, given that my hair could blow in the wind freely with the windows down but still stay off my face. I completed the outfit with some bangles, a turquoise necklace and comfy sandals. I think I made Lenay pretty proud with this ensemble given that this is her element. She is my favorite hippie dippy chicky!

There’s nothing like a trip to the beautiful Colorado mountains to get your hippie vibe groovin. I love the bohemian chic feel of this colorful crocheted vest. It’s one of my favorite pieces with its neon colors and textural details. It’s the perfect addition to any outfit to give it that bohemian modern flare. Since I wanted that to be my statement, I paired it with a sweet, eyelet white maxi dress that I wore as a skirt to give due length to my tall frame. I put a simple basic tank on the top and adorned it with a chunky green pebble rock necklace. It’s about the closest I come to “matching” but that vest is too good not to showcase! Plus, there’s a breezy vibe that comes with an all white eyelet-patterned outfit that makes me want to twirl in the wind without a care in the world.

Romping Through the Park

Up, up and away we go! There’s only one way to enjoy Cheesman Park, and it is by flying in style. We both decided an ode to summer was necessary, so we found our open-backed rompers for a sweet sayonara. Gold balloons helped us ring in the celebratory park day, and as free birds we flew away.

Taking a romp through the park in a romper is a sure way to rise to the top! This denim romper has been my go-to outfit this Summer. Its classic washed-out color and soft feel is perfect for an easy breezy frock. And it’s hard not to fall in love with this romper’s open back cut, subtle structural details and perfectly positioned pockets. It’s easily made extra special with a couple strings of vintage jewels and a pair of glamazon leopard heels. A pop of bold color on the lips was just what I needed to take this outfit to soaring heights!

Rompers may be one of the best outfits for summer. A pink, eyelet romper that ties in a bow is just plain perfect. Our Cheesman Park outing called for an easy, breezy outfit, and I had just the piece to make it happen. My goal was to channel my inner 1950’s pin up girl. So, I adorned myself with gold, jewels and floral wedges to add a vintage charm. Finish with gold balloons and a Denver cityscape, and an unforgettable park day develops.

Sweet Action

No Denver day is complete without some Sweet Action. We mean this in a strictly ice cream way, of course. The ice cream shop creates new, homemade flavors on the regular like roasted green chili and sour cream and chives. The sweetest part of the deal was licking our ice cream cones, so they wouldn’t melt everywhere. And, we had no problem getting in on that action.

Randi

Traipsing to the ice cream shop is one of my absolute favorite things to do in Denver. And, Sweet Action is my absolute favorite shop. So naturally, I pieced together some of my favorites for this fine day. Mint and coral have been my go-to summer colors. The mint shorts are a great length to keep it classy, and the coral shoe is a great height to get crazy. So, they balanced each other out perfectly. I chose the coral necklace to brighten the neckline, and the gold polka-dot sheer shirt happens to be one of my favorites as well. I was inspired by Brigitte Bardot for the mini bouffant, and thank goodness I added it because there is something about ice cream that makes for a flirty atmosphere. And, nothing went better with this outfit than a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone.

Lenay

Ice cream is fun. And Randi is the Ice Cream Queen, so needless to say, I’ve had it A LOT this summer. When I found out we were skipping down to Sweet Action, I couldn’t help but grab this bubble gum floral dress. It’s bursting with all the perfect summer colors. I balanced out the girly gal elements with a natural geode necklace and menswear specs. Add in a neon bowed heel and I’m ready for ice cream! Naturally, I decided on Blackberry Lavender because it matched my outfit and Lavender has been my go to infusion this summer!

Savory Street Art

Venturing to Vine Street was on the agenda since we hadn’t explored it very much, and there were brunch and boys to be had. After sharing a sweet and savory meal at Vine Street Pub, we stumbled upon an alleyway on Colfax. To our delight, the graffiti gave the perfect backdrop for our outfits. Randi sidled up to a skull, and a dinosaur nearly dined on Lenay.

Randi

I quite literally put a feather on it with this sheer, flowy top resulting in a dreamy debut. It is one of my faves with its wing-sided shape and delicate decoration. And, you cannot go wrong when you have room for growth. A mint green necklace made the darker color of the shirt feel like summer to me, and the lace shorts had me loving the season all the more. I felt like a mermaid with the beach waves despite my land-locked state, and I couldn’t help but sneak in a little leopard flair. After all, it’s a jungle out there!

Lenay

So, there I was just walkin’ around, mindin’ my own biznass and up comes a UFO and a dino? What gives?! I’ll take all of my afternoon adventures with a close encounter of this design kind, thank you very much! Before the sun don’t shine this winter, I’m going to take full advantage of wearing this sweet bralette in the summer wind. A high-waisted, calf-length skirt is the perfect pairing to balance out the sweet scandal of a perfect bralette, don’t you think? Just a peep of skin will bring those boys to the yard, like a good milkshake…or something like that. You can see I clearly have a way with words and men, yes? My pattern play of the day was mixing the sweetly doodled flowers with a lovable leopard waist belt. Topped off with my statement piece as of late, the boldly blue-hued floral necklace.

Welcome to the Bubble Garden

Although free drinks led us to the rooftop of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver initially, we soon found out that the stunning views and interactive mediums would keep us there. Lenay gracefully gravitated toward the wall of butterflies, and Randi found herself bursting with joy in the bubble garden.

Lenay

Gah. This is my favorite place to hang in Denver this summer. Why isn’t every art museum rooftop open until 9pm? It’s about time those Colorado sunsets get some due homage from the top. For the occasion, I dug in my closet to find this bustier-inspired top with a sweetheart neckline and a to-die-for black and white palette. Cognac leather shorts added a touch of biker-chic that rose to the nighttime occasion and a pop of blue on the neckline completed the mix. Throw in a subtly patterned shoe and I was ready to sip and stroll throughout the gallery!

Randi

Since I knew I was about to indulge in a beverage on a rooftop, I wanted to use bright colors to showcase my elevated mood. This was a perfect time to show my inner matchaholic who was boss. So, I paired this seemingly unmatched sheer coral button-down top with the light blue  pants to complement one another. One of my favorite elements of the outfit was a sequined collar and a bit of neon pink in necklace form. The leopard pointed-toe flats are a newbie in my closet, and I couldn’t wait to get them out on the town. The toe cleavage was just an added bonus. Details! Details! Details!

An Evening Jaunt

It seems like Denver always welcomes a wonderful evening with open arms.  The peacockin’ possibilities are endless whether the night leads you to a dynamite dinner or a sweet stroll around a neighborhood. Our night began with an evening jaunt that juxtaposed our girly selves against the rock n’ roll of the city.

Randi

Even though an evening stroll was in store, I didn’t have an exact plan for this night. So, I wore some of my favorite summer staples that would carry me through any adventure.  I love the boyish charm of the chambray shirt paired with the sweet frill of this ultra feminine pink, lace skirt. And, no outfit is complete without a little gold glitz spritzed around the neck. Doubling up on necklaces always does the trick. I finished this outfit with my favorite peacockin’ piece, floral shoes. I haven’t been able to take off these bad boys since I bought them, and they haven’t let me down yet.

Lenay

Bright is my thang, ya’ll. I fell in blouse-love with this sheer sleeveless boyshirt in its sweet color and versatile shirt tail length. I chose to add double statement necklaces because, well, why does one statement necklace get to have all the fun? I love the texture and sheen of this skirt. It abracabras any blouse into night rider mode. Finish it off with a patterned belt, a touch of menswear specs and some moto booties and I’m good to go!
